Drifting, Not Driving: The Joy Of Arcade Racers
Sim racing is great on the right hardware. On a phone, with a thumb, it's mostly frustrating. That's why the best mobile racers lean all the way into arcade physics, and Neon Drift League is a clean example.
The whole game is tuned around the drift. Cornering isn't a threat to survive, it's the thing you're there to do. The longer you hold a slide, the more boost you bank, so the optimal line and the fun line are the same line.
I spent most of my time in the ghost mode, racing my own best lap over and over. There's something perfect about a racing game with no opponents to rage at, just yesterday's you being slightly worse than today's you.
One tip: brake earlier than feels right to start the drift sooner, and you'll carry way more speed out of the corner. It's counterintuitive until it isn't.
